Bali Trip - May 09 ( Day 3 and Day 4)

Day 3






Before we went off for tour, we brought Yan Yan to the hotel's kids club. She played a while then we got to leave for today's tour. First stop was Uluwatu Temple. It is one of Balinese Hindu Temple located in southern part of Bali right on the cliff bank. It is very amazing that this temple is built on the narrow peninsula with crevasse under it. Sorry, I could find any pictures that we took have the temple at the cliff. I probably have missed it. At least I got this, beautiful magnificent view of the Indian Ocean.








look at this, we put on the sarong and sashes which are provided at the entrance ticket booth. Need to be properly dressed before enter the temple.


The temple is inhabited by large number of monkeys, who are extremely adept at snatching visitors' belonging, including bags, cameras and eyeglasses.

After this, we went for lunch ( Bali food) in 1 of the local restaurant at Kuta town. The food was nice. After lunch we got a break. The kids were complaining traveling too much here and there. They wished to have more time to play or swim in the hotel. Hence we asked the drivers to send us back to the hotel. Some of us stayed in the hotel to look after the kids. Hubs was so nice to babysit Yan Yan for few hours. My sisters and I went out for shopping.

At 4pm, the kids went for swimming. They were all with my mom and my elder sister. Others then continue to visit Tanah Lot, one of the best place to view sunset. Aiyo, all the way to Tanah Lot was raining, we hardly saw the sunset :(

We passed by row after row of shops line the walk way down to the beach, before we reach the entrance of Tanah Lot Temple.

Day 4 ( last day in Bali)
Before we check out, we had a walk at the beach. Hehe, many of this people selling all kinds of stuff on the beach.





They also sell some kind of 'services'...
Massage, manicure and pedicure services. They kept holding my hands asked me to buy this and that... Asked me to do massage lah, this lah and that lah. End up....

Ta Da!





I got no way to go, got to sit down and took all the services and of course have to pay. No worry, not expensive at all.

Bali Trip - May 09 ( Day 2)

We had our breakfast at hotel. Then we were off for sightseeing. The local drivers supposed to meet us up at the hotel lobby at 10.30am, but he was a bit late. Anywhere, we enjoyed ourselves taking pictures in front of the hotel while waiting for him.

Once met up the 2 drivers, we had a short discussion on the places to visit. I reminded him that we did not want a tight schedule. At 11am, we left the hotel in two Totota Unsers.


Our first stop was supposed to go for a volcano view. But the driver asked if we want to stop at Oleh Oleh. I thought it was a sightseeing spot hence we agreed to pay for a visit there. Once we were at the Oleh-Oleh, I then realized it was a souvenirs shop. So we had our very first shopping at this shop. Normally things that sold in this kind of souvenirs shop is abit expensive. We are interested in those accessories like bangles and necklaces. Taking a look at the price tags, they are not pricey at all! We quickly picked and tried. This was nice, that was nice too.... Huh, huh, we bought a lot. Each bangle or necklace is about rm3 only.



Before we continued our journey for the volcano viewing, we went for lunch. We had the famous Babi Guling dishes at the original shop called Ibu Oka. It was actually a Bali style suckling pig. It served with rice. I like it, very delicious! Tummy was full... The kids already tired after lunch. They felt boring too. I then asked my nephew and niece to take a nap in the car. And so did Yan Yan. Half and hour later, we were at the volcano viewing point. Yan Yan was cranky once she was awake. Kept asking for the pacifier. We took a few pictures only.

There are a lot people selling here. They kept chasing at you and offering their goods. They sell cutie pencils, bangles ( oh my, the bangles are much more cheaper here), batik clothes and many more. There is also some people offered you to get for a temporary tattoo...
We were busy bargain and we bought many things here. We must know how to bargain with them in order to get the best deal. For example, I bought 3 packs of cutie pencils at rm 10 where my sister bought 1 pack already cost rm10. I even have a tattoo done on my leg, guess what, only rm5! But of course, the tattoo can only last for 2 weeks.




Our next stop was Tegal Lalang rice terrace. This was what the rice terrace about. Nice? We just stopped here for taking pictures...

Last stop of the day before our dinner, Ubud Palace. The driver did not tell us any history about this palace... We took some pictures and crossed the road to go to Ubud market for shopping, yeah, shop again! The Ubud palace is just opposite the Ubud market.

Ubud Market is a Center of Art Market in Bali...

The art crafting are sold in this art market consisted of various crafting, from traditional until contemporary crafting which its price is relatively cheap. You can do the transaction directly to the merchant which generally can be bargained. All the crafting sold in this place you can bring home as souvenir like slipper, wood idol, bag, clothes, matting, painting and a lot of more.

Lastly, we went to Jimbaran beach for dinner. The beach is cluttered with seafood restaurants. Once we were at the beach, Yan Yan got a scary frighten by the fireworks. One of the restaurant was having a function and kept burning the fireworks. Yan Yan cried and cried wanted to leave this place. We tried to calm her down and luckily she stopped crying once the fireworks finished. She then played with the sand...
We selected the live seafood that we wish to eat, and it is immediately prepared, generally grilled over a fire. The seafood dinner served is so so only, and pricey too. But of course the environment is beautiful.

Bali Trip - May 09 ( Day 1)

Yeah, we just came back from our Bali trip. Few weeks before the departure, we did worry about the swine flu issues, and was wondering is Yan Yan can travel with us. But we went for the trip and come back safely... Of course we brought along Yan Yan and she enjoyed the trip very much. She was caught in flu few days before departure, but luckily she was recovered before the trip. Mummy got flu and sore throat hence I rushed to see doctor before we headed to airport. I was fine after taking medicine. I prepared a lot of masks and hygienic personal wipes. Not many people wearing masks in the airport, but I still wear it as I was having flu.




Yan Yan is so excited to sit on the aeroplane. She kept singing an aeroplane song. But Yan Yan is not so well behaved on the plane. It might because she was tired and she just need a nap. So I quickly tucked her to sleep. She took an hour nap and then woke up did some drawing.

Upon reaching the airport in Bali ( about 8pm), we then proceed to Hard Rock Hotel for check in. Yan Yan become a little model of Ba Ba and took some pictures in the hotel lobby. Then we came to the room. It was big and clean. Let Yan Yan taken a bottle of milk before we went out for dinner.

After dinner, we went back to hotel. Lobby bar was having live bands performance. We didn't stay long there because we were all tired.

Atopic Eczema

Yan Yan suffered from Atopic Eczema. This is what the skin specialist told me last week. I brought her to see skin specialist for the second time, the first time we visit the skin doctor was few months ago. Tried to update Why and when she went for her first time visit..

All happened back few months.. She used to scratch her skin whenever she is bitten from mosquitos. Her legs, hands and her back were scratched till patches of redness. Her hands is so itchy. Whenever she is bitten from mosquitoes, she will scratch and scratch and I just hardly keep her away from scratching. And she also developed minor itching skin problems occured on the elbow bends and back of the knees. After applied the cream ( for affected area) and physiogel cream ( moisturiser, for whole body) and took bath with Centaphil soap free cleanser, her skin has improved a lot. Hence I have stopped using all of this for sometimes already.

Her skin problems is back since few weeks ago, it might caused by the hot hot weather. Rashes occured both her elbow bends and back of the knees and even her wrist are reddish, she even scratches till 1 small bump on 1 of the elbow bends. So this is the reason I brought her to see skin doctor for the second time. She suffered from Atopic Eczema, doctor said. I got to ask doctor why was this happened to her. Doctor asked me if we have a family history of eczema or asthma. Oh, I have asthma problems and and this is why she may be has greater ( 25%) risk of getting skin problems.

After 1 week of taking the antibiotic med, bathing with Cetaphil cleanser, applying moisturizer, she is now getting better. Yeah, update here.. my girl used to be phobia of taking med. But what is surprising me is she now can take medicine without screaming and crying, or puking anymore.

Unsafe to Travel??

I have planned for a 4 days 3 nights trip to Bali with all my family members few months ago. Our departure date will be on next Friday, 22 May. I am so excited about it as this will be the first overseas trip for Yan Yan. Heng Heng is not going with us, my MIL will take care of him for this 4 days.

I have made the hotel rooms booking at Hard Rock Bali from Sedunia Travel. 3 nights accomodation for Rm528 ( per adult) , is a great deal as children travelling along are free. Package inclusives of 3 nights stay, daily breakfast, one free dinner and roundtrip airport transfer. We will engage this local driver cum tour guide to bring us tour around this beautiful island. I just can't wait for the day to come!

But guess what? I started to worry, since the swine flu breaks out in Mexico. I am so worry that our trip could be affected by the flu. Somemore today Malaysia confirms first case of A(H1N1) flu! Oh my! I just hope the flu will go far far away as soon as possible... I hope we can travel to Bali by next week!

Loving Brother and Sister

I like to see my two angels caring for each other, playing together... But when they fight, I will then got a big headache!

Smash-and-Grab Car Theft

If you read news paper, you will sure get mad on the snatch theft cases that involving 2 pregnant mothers. Crime is on the rise. I want to share with all of you, mummies, aunties, ladies, beware of your handbags. You are now more safe, you can become the victim to snatch thieves even though when you are driving. My second sister became a victim to smash-and-grab car thieves few weeks ago. This incident happened when she was waiting for the traffic lights to turn green some where at Pandan Indah. Two men on motorbikes stopped beside her on her left and smashed her left passenger window. They grabbed her handbag and tried to escape. My sister's hand was hurt, but her heart was 'hurt' too. Her handbag was gone, all important and personal documents were gone, two hand phones and cash were gone...

Oh, I nearly forget... My brother's girlfriend was robbed off her handbag on this Monday. The thieves smashed her passenger window and grabbed her bag while her car is stationary at a red light. It happened some where in Pandan Indah too.

We Like Steam Cake

I am craving to steam cakes. I started to steam my very first steam banana cake after reading a few bloggers' posts on this cake. ( get to know some of the mummies bloggers get this recipe from here.

Ingredients :
-1 ripe banana, mashed
-1 egg (can be substituted with 50ml of milk or water)
-1 teaspoon oil
-2 teaspoons water
-2 teaspoons baking powder
-1/4 cup icing sugar100g (2/3 cup to close to 1 cup)
-100g all-purpose flour

Guess how was my first attempt? I FAIL! The cake turned out like a 'kuih'. This was because I was ran out of all purpose flour hence I substituted it with self raising flour and didn't add any baking powder as the shopkeeper told me that inside self raising flour has added baking powder in it.

The very next day I went to buy the all purpose flour and steamed the cake. Yeah, I did it! The cake turned out just nice and everyone liked it! I steamed the cake again and again because we just like it. I also tried to add some chocolate chips in it.

Then my next attempt was steam egg cake, so far only tried once before and I FAIL, again! The cake turned out like a 'kuih' and is too rich of egg taste. I gave up!
Happened I was blog hoping and found this recipe, Marie biscuit steam cake. I steam this cake today and I am so happy and surprised that the results turned out well though. Very nice cake, soft and spongy.
